Kiev-Pechersk Lavra ( Kiev ). It is the most ancient and unique cloister, founded in 1051 on the Russia , by the monk Antonio. Later, the prince Svyatoslav II Yaroslavovich, gave to the cloister plateau under the caves, where wonderful stone temples decorated by paintings, fortress towers and other buildings has been raised. In XII century monastery got the status of lavra. There lived and worked famous chroniclers, writers, scientists and painters. Here, in 1113 chronicler Nestor wrote his “Povest vremennyh let”. After communist’s coming to power the whole property was declared to become the common property of the people, monastery was closed and instead was open a museum town. The main point of interest of Lavra – are the caves, system of underground corridors. There live monks and burry died settlers of the cloister. Believers come to the caves, where they are kept. The extension of caves is covered by legends:  it stretches out under Dnepr and leads to other caves of Kiev and Chernigov . 

Architectural complex Kiev Sophia ( Kiev ). The main temple of Kiev Sophia was based in 1037. Cathedral played a leading role in the history of the whole Europe : here were delivered Russian metropolitans by Constantinople patriarch, and consecrated ascending the throne. The temple became a burial – vault of great princes. Here was kept a chronicle, created the first famous in Ukraine library and school, and in the yard were conducted public meetings. The principal miracle of Sophia –is Sophia mosaics, famous for the whole world, and fascinating ancient frescos on the walls, which are saved by a miracle till our days.

Reserve in Kamenec (Kamenec- Podolskiy, Chmelnicka district). Kamenec- Podolskiy – is the ancient town of Ukraine with more than 700 years’ history. By the quantity of monuments it cedes only to Kiev & Lvov . Here lived tribes of tripol and chernjachov cultures. On the boundary of XI – XII these tribes became a feudal city, development of which was broken by tataro-mongol’s invasion. In 1362 Kamenec – Podolskiy was set free by litovskiy prince Olged, and city became the centre of Podol; there were built stone towers, gates and Roman-Catolic churches. Podol’ government viewed Kamenec as suburban bastion for south boundaries guarding from tatar’s invasions. In 1998 Old City was announced to be National historical-architectural Kamenec.

Khotynska fortress (Chotyn, Chernovecka district). K hotyn was originated from intersection of important trade passages. In that period of time Kiev prince Vladimir has conquered local tribes of tivers and ulichy and joined the land from Carpathian mountains to Dniester to Kiev princedom. The castle in Chotin has become one of the centers of prince’s power. In XIII century, the period of Danila Galyckiy, on the place of wooden fortifications was built stone fortress, which later was completed. In 1621, there was a famous battle of Chotyn between Turkish and Poland armies. Cossak forces of Sagaidachnyj came to rescue for poles. Certainly you have seen Chotyn fortress in films – “Three musketeers”, “Ballads about valiant knight Ivanhoe”, and “Zahar Berkut”

Reserve in Chersonese (Tavric, Crimea coast). The territory of reserve covers ancient city Tavric Chersonese, founded on the coast of Black Sea in V century A.D. Till our days there are preserved many ancient constructions: Hellenistic theatre, Rome citadel, medieval Christian temples, residential areas, and streets. Chersonese territory is investigated by archeologists more than 170 years, and by this time about one third of city has been discovered. Main part of reserve – archeological museum, keeping more than 200 of valuable displays: collection of antique terracotta, depicting Herculean, Dionysus, Demetra, Afrodita, and also     15 000 of coins of roman & Byzantium imperators.   

Chortyca Island  (Zaporozhye). Legendery Island embraced with a wide and mighty Dnepr, surrounded by rocks, beach coasts, and is covered by forest. In 1103 the name “ Chortychyj Island ” at first appeared in “Povest vremennyh let”. At all times island on Dnepr was on the most important passage, where was held haggling between Slovenians and Greeks. Exactly here, prince Svyatoslav has fallen in the battle. The history of Zaporozh Sych takes its beginnings from Chortyca, when in 1552 – 1557 Dmitro Vyshnevetskyj has founded the first fortified town, and new fortresses were completed under Petro Sagaidachnyj ruling in 1617. The chief legend of Chortyca – treasures of Zaporozh Cossacks.

Dendropark “Sophievka” (Uman, Cherkass district). It is the masterpiece of world park-garden art of the end of XVII – beginning of XIX centuries. Polish duke Potozkij presented it to Greek woman Sohia as the sign of his love. He acquainted with girl in 1971 and fall in love with her, but they couldn’t be together, because both of them already had families. Only in 7 years, lovers legalized their relations. For today, Uman Dendropark is one of the best parks of Europe , which amazes imagination of visitors by its scenery, stone  and antique sculptures.
