| TOUR Ò-014 Rafting by Black and White Cheremosh - Rafting Region: Ukraine, the Carpathians Tour type: Rafting (2-4 difficulty category) Total days: 7 days Season: April-September, by request Rafting distance: 115 km |  | The Carpathians are an excellent place to start a rafting season. The magnificent nature, gentle spring and affluent rivers allowing to properly tune oneself up and to get additional skills on the roaring waters. The combination of two Cheremoshes is an ideal and classical option. The route passes by Ivano-Frankovsk and Chernovtsy regions. Cheremosh is a right-hand tributary of the Prut river – formed by confluence of the Black and White Cheremoshe. The total length of Cheremosh river is 80 km, Black Cheremosh - 87 km, White Cheremosh - 50 km. These are typically mountain rivers with a slight incline (Cheremosh – 3.3 m/km, Black Cheremosh – 8.25 m/km (in some areas: 12-15 m/km), White Cheremosh – 9.7 m/km) and rapid race (from 8 to 20+ km/h). The Cheremosh and its tributary usually have short turbulent floods with rapid changes of the water level. The Black Cheremosh is more affluent than the White Cheremosh. For the rafting 4-sits catamarans or rafts are used. The following riffles will be passed: Berdy, Dzembronia, Guchok, Khaliava, Dudki, Vorotsa, Yablonitskaya lestnitsa, and Krasnikovskaya shivera. Three meals a day will be provided during the whole trip. Accommodation – in tents on the river-bank. Important! The participants must be 18+ y.o. The participants shall have no personal medical contraindications and have swimming skills. | Program: Day 1 Transfer to the starting point of rafting – Shibeny village, base camp, meeting the coaches, crews formation, briefing and adjusting of equipment and outfit. Day 2 Start of rafting, training of crews to operate smoothly, passing the riffles: Berdy, Dzembronia, and Guchok. The riffles are passed for several times to improve the rafting skills and understand the tactics. Standing post – nearby Guchok riffle. Day 3 Continuation of rafting, passing the riffles: Guk, Krasnikovskaya shivera, overcoming the difficult river areas near Kryvorivnia village, rafting to Usteriki village. Transfer to Goloshino on White Cheremosh river. Day 4 Day stay, purchase of a sheep, shashlyk. Day 5 Rafting by the White Cheremosh, passing the riffles: Khaliava, Dudki, Vorotsa, Yablonitskaya lestnitsa. Standing post – below Yablonitsa village. Day 6 Final rafting by the White Cheremosh to Usterik. Standing post – on the junction of the White and Black Cheremoshes. Day 7 Rafting by Cheremosh to Vizhnitsa. End of the trip. Transfer to Lvov, taking a train. In early May, the weather is moderately warm, although various spring cataclysms (like snow) are possible. It may be hot during the day (up to+20), and rather cold during the night (+5+10), especially in the river heads. Sometimes, with the blue clear skies the frost may fall on the ground, it could be cold during the rain. The water is cold – a wet suit will be required for diving. The rains are frequent.
