The Samara river begins in the north-western limbs of the Donetsk chain of hills. Its length is 311 km. It flows in the western direction and only nearby Volnaya village turns to the south, and near Dnepropetrovsk in falls into the Dnepr river. Here the waters of the Samara and its inflows (Peschanki, Samarchuka, Kilcheni and Podpolnaya rivers) raised by the backwater of Dneproges (Dnepr hydroelectric power station) form a large lake – the so-called Lenin Lake and the famous Samara overflow lands, located near Novomoskovsk forest. It is this part of the left inflow of the Dnepr, which is called the fairytale corner. Oak-woods and pine forests, fruit gardens and weeping willow, green fields and sandy beaches – all this you can find in the labyrinths of the river channels on the islands covered with forests and canes, as well as on the silent lakes hidden in green bushes. This is how the Samara is seen by those who stays and has a rest here in tents. Indeed, this place deserves to be called Deprovskaya Venice. When traveling by tourist canoe in the labyrinth of the Samara overflow lands, you may for two days enjoy the never repeating beauty of islands and lakes, passing kilometers while staying not more than 30 minutes of walk from the starting point. At that, the tourist canoe is the most suitable boat for exploration of the nooks and for passing through the shallowest channels in the overflow lands that looks like tunnels due to the trees crowns that grew together. Dozens kinds of fish, birds and animals populate this marvelous place. Excellent fishing and romantic nights around the campfire add to the picture of splendid rest on the river. We invite you to take part in the week-end tours by Samara overflow lands. Important! The tourists must have swimming skills and have no medical contraindications. What should be taken with you? All personal belongings will be carried in canoes, therefore, try to avoid taking unnecessary things. You may take thin woolen or 50%-wollen clothes, old sweater, jumper, waterproof trousers and jacket or cloak, shorts, and T-shirt, woolen socks, old jogging shoes or sandals. For evenings in a camp – jeans, sweater, shirt, another pair of footwear, sleeping bag and a mat (if none – we shall provide you with the latter). You must take a personal set of medicines for emergency cases, a towel, a toothbrush and soap. A spoon and a bowel, a mug and a knife. Head-mounted electric torch. UV skin protectors. Board and accommodation. Three meals a day will be provided during the whole trip. E.g.: 1. Breakfast – coffee, sandwiches, cakes, diary products, rice. 2. Lunch – packed meal: preserves, sausages, bacon, cheese, tea and chocolate bar. 3. Dinner – soup, pasta with canned meat, vegetables, compote, cookies. The food will be prepared on the open fire with all pluses and minuses of the tourist meals. The night you will spend on the river-bank in tents. Passing through the western part of the overflow lands, sailing to the canal of the Samarchuk, Peschanka, Podpolnaya rivers. Exploring of channels and lakes between Samarchuk and Samara rivers, trip by the eastern part of the overflow lands, training of the orientation skills – return to the night stop – the forest island on the Samara river near PEschanka village. Trip across the Lenin Lake – the wind permitting – under the sails, entrance to the Dnepr river, crossing the shipping rout nearby Voroniy island, finish at Monastyrskiy island.
